Old Main Society
Wayne State University faculty, staff and students are very grateful to all donors who support the university, its academic programs, research and students. We especially want to recognize those who provide for the university's future through their estate plans. The Old Main Society recognizes all donors of estate gifts. Members of the Old Main Society are invited to financial and estate-planning presentations, receive donor publications and are recognized at the annual Investors Luncheon.
If you have included the university, its colleges, schools, programs or scholarships in your estate plans in any way, we ask you to please notify us. We will ensure that the gift you have planned can be used as you request. We will also ask you to consider listing your name with the Old Main Society members along with those who have planned for the university's future. Seeing your name and the names of all the members may help others realize how easy it is to help support Wayne State University with an ultimate gift. Only your name is listed, without any reference to your plans.
If you prefer, we can keep your plan anonymous, but we still ask you to inform us of your intent to be a partner in Wayne State's future to enable the university to plan for your future gift. We want to thank you for your care and planning, and we want to ensure your gift will be used as you intend.
You can join The Old Main Society by:
- Creating a bequest through your will or trust naming the university as beneficiary.
- Establishing a Life Income Gift Plan that pays you (and/or another whom you name) an income during your lifetime(s) and then benefits Wayne State.
- Donating a life insurance policy that eventually benefits Wayne State.
- Naming Wayne State University as remainder beneficiary of your retirement assets or other account.
- Funding a Charitable Lead Trust to provide income to Wayne State for a specific period of time and a transfer of the property to your heirs afterward with less estate tax.
- Contributing real estate while retaining a life estate.
We invite you to explore these options with us and discuss the benefits of each—for yourself and your loved ones and for Wayne State University. Your gift plan also qualifies you for the university's Anthony Wayne Society if it exceeds the $10,000 minimum threshold.
