The Office of Undergraduate Research distributes grants to provide opportunities
for undergraduate students from throughout the university to participate in research and
creative activities under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Hands-on research experience
puts theories into practice and prepares students for both graduate school and employment.
Undergraduates can submit proposals for projects sponsored by faculty with whom the student will
collaborate.
Research projects must focus on developing and testing a hypothesis or theory
using methods relevant to one or more academic disciplines.
Creative projects develop new materials -- artistic, literary, educational or physical --
by methods other than those traditionally considered "research."
Undergraduate Research and Creative Projects grants total $3,050 each:
- The students will recieve $2,300 as tuition remission or stipend.
- The faculty mentor will receive $750 for supervising the project.
