International Travel Scholarships

Goal: $1 million endowment

Today, currencies cross borders in the blink of an eye and more than a million people fly over national boundaries every day. Decisions made in Bonn, Lagos or Beijing affect life in Lansing, Detroit and Kalamazoo. Global-based education teaches us about the myriad ways our society intersects and how to live in a world that gets smaller every day.

Living and working effectively in a global society requires learning with an international perspective. Opportunities to study abroad give our students the skills and experience necessary to meet the challenges of an increasingly interconnected and dynamic global environment.

Studying abroad also helps students gain knowledge that enables them to improve their understanding of other cultures, their successes and problems, and the issues we have in common. Students who have had these experiences become an invaluable resource to our nation and to future employers as global markets become more competitive.

Unfortunately, not every student, however deserving, can afford to take a semester or a year abroad to acquire this important aspect of a modern education.

For more information about some of the many study abroad options available to Wayne State University students, visit these links:

Wayne State University students need more scholarship funds to help defray the expenses of studying abroad. Awards for students will cover tuition and living expenses for international study programs sponsored by Wayne State University.
