Through Wayne State’s multidisciplinary approach to research and education, and ongoing collaboration with government, industry and other institutions, we seek to expand knowledge, enhance economic growth and improve the overall quality of life. Our faculty lead the nation in many key research areas, and their groundbreaking discoveries make a difference in the everyday lives of people around the world.

The university offers a number of competitive internal funding programs to assist faculty researchers in achieving success in obtaining external funding to conduct research, create scholarship and perform creatively. While the university dedicates resources to enhancing our research enterprise, we rely on private gifts to augment those resources and ensure the ongoing excellence of our scientific initiatives.
