Fulfillment of a Dream

Alumna Anne Harnett has a passion for all things Italian. She began her college career at Wayne State University in a pre-med curriculum with chemistry as her major. Her discovery of the Italian program at the university, however, caused her to declare a dual major and she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Italian Language and Literature. Soon after obtaining her undergraduate degree, she participated in an academic year at the University of Perugia in the province of Umbria studying Italian culture.

"My lifelong interest in design grew out of the wonderful education I had at Wayne State University," Anne said. "I came to appreciate the importance of good design while living in Italy, where excellent design could be found in everything from ancient architecture to current fashions. The year I spent at the University of Perugia truly changed my life. My planned gift through my estate to create a scholarship for students to study design in Italy fulfills my dream of providing significant life-enhancing experiences to new generations of students."

Many attractive planned gift options are available for the university's alumni and friends to realize their charitable objectives.
