For the Love of Animals

Kim Cross has made a bequest from her IRA in support of Wayne State University's Veterinary Technician program. This two-year degree program, in collaboration with Wayne County Community College, prepares students to be assistants in veterinary offices.

"I love animals," Kim said. "I served on the Michigan Humane Society board and learned the importance of getting involved on behalf of animals. One of my hobbies is animal photography. I have been very fortunate to travel to the Arctic, Africa, the Antarctic and Galapagos Islands to photograph wildlife. I hope that my bequest will encourage students to consider a career as a doctor of veterinary medicine."

Kim attended the university's School of Business Administration in the early 1980s and then moved to New York City where she finished her degree at Pace University. Her husband, Terry, received his MBA degree at Wayne State and is Executive in Residence at the School of Business Administration, also serving on the school's Board of Visitors. Kim is a planned giving officer at Wayne State, working with the colleges of Education and Engineering, the schools of Social Work and Business Administration, and Library Information and Programs.
