What is Annual Giving at Wayne State University?
Annual Giving is a department in the Division of Development and Alumni Affairs that works with the university’s schools and colleges to encourage alumni and friends to contribute to Wayne State on an annual basis.
Why is Annual Giving important?
Annual Giving creates and maintains relationships with alumni and friends to inform them of campus events, updates and giving opportunities. The department also carries out university-wide major fundraising initiatives, as well as programs initiated in the schools, colleges or other divisions of the university.
How will the university contact me?
All of our alumni and friends are contacted 2-3 times per year to make contributions that will support specific areas of interest (school/college programs, athletics, alumni association, parent campaign, etc.) Annual giving solicitations are conducted through direct mail, telephone calls and e-mails.
How is Annual Giving beneficial to Wayne State University?
Annual gifts to any area of WSU benefit current students and programs. Annual donors can designate their gifts to benefit any area of the university that is special to them, or to provide immediate funding to other areas with funding gaps resulting from tuition or state funding shortfalls.
Each school and college at Wayne State depends on gifts to its annual fund to support teaching, research and scholarship priorities.
What are the advantages to giving to WSU?
Your yearly contributions to WSU are tax-deductible and help the university achieve its overall mission. Your cumulative gifts may also qualify you to be a member of one of the university's donor societies.
